Dr. Heidi Harman and her team of professionals would like to welcome you to our blog! We provide highly specialized and affordable orthodontic treatment at our two office locations in Overland Park and Olathe, Kansas. We also serve patients living in Leawood, Lenexa, Shawnee, Blue Valley and other surrounding communities in Kansas and Missouri.

Meet Dr. Harman

Dr. Heidi Harman is a native of Nebraska who has been a certified orthodontist since 1988. Dr. Harman earned her DDS degree with distinction from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. Her master’s degree was conferred in Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD/TMJ) study. Her certificate of specialization in orthodontics was received from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Harman has published several scientific articles and is a member of many professional organizations. Dr. Harman’s goal is to evaluate early and avoid future extraction, impaction, airway constrictions and unnecessary surgeries. She personally evaluates each patient.

When she is not working, Dr. Harman enjoys traveling, spending time on the water, physical fitness training, cooking and her two Italian Greyhounds.

Our Team

Our goal is to make everyone feel welcomed and right at home! Our staff is trained and skilled. We strive to provide our patients with energetic, fun-loving service.

Each member of our treatment team is a registered assistant. Our office staff has many years of combined experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We regularly attend continuing educational courses and seminars to ensure that we always offer the latest technologies and advances in orthodontics.

Types of Braces we Offer

The most common type of braces we use are metal braces. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, more attractive and more durable.

The nickel-free braces we use are for our patients with nickel allergies or sensitivity.

The Damon Brackets we use utilize a ‘sliding door’ technology known as “self-ligation”. This allows the wire to slide back and forth within the bracket. There are no elastic or steel ties used with Damon braces which results in less friction and greater comfort.

Our clear braces or brackets are made of translucent ceramic-porcelain material that does not stain. These braces are popular among patients due to their cosmetic appeal.

Our gold plated braces are electroplated 24-karat gold metal braces. These attractive braces are another great alternative for patients who sensitive to nickel.

The Invisalign System is a series of clear overlay templates or aligners which gradually move the teeth. This system is available to patients with certain bite problems.

Your First Visit

We look forward to meeting each new patient. You will find our staff to be very friendly and professional. You can expect to spend about an hour with us on this important first visit. You will receive a thorough examination and a follow-up discussion of potential treatment options available to you. We reserve time following the exam for diagnostic records which include photos and impressions which are necessary for developing the treatment plan.
