At H2O Orthodontics, it is our goal to provide high quality orthodontic care at an affordable price for our patients.

How Much Do Braces Cost?

The average cost of braces can vary for each individual case and is usually dependent on personal factors such as treatment length and location.

During your first free visit at H2O Orthodontics, we will check your insurance coverage and design a plan that tailor fits your treatment needs and budget.  If your insurance does not cover orthodontic care, we have payment plans with interest-free installments to suit monthly budgets.  We also accept debit cards, most major credit cards, and offer family discounts to qualifying patients. We can also factor in use of a Health Savings Account (HSA) that can help keep you up to date and on time with all your payments.

Types of Braces

  • Metal braces – the most common type made of high grade stainless steel, now made to be smaller, durable, and more comfortable then ever.
  • Nickel free – made for patients with a nickel allergy or hypersensitivity
  • Damon braces – self-ligating braces that allows wires to slide back and forth within brackets, eliminating the use of elastics.
  • Clear braces – made of translucent ceramic porcelain that doesn’t stain
  • Gold plated – made of electroplated 24k gold, these luxurious braces are another alternative for people with a nickel allergy or hypersensitivity.
  • Invisalign – clear aligners generated by computer simulation to gradually move teeth. Removable and virtually invisible.

How much does Invisalign cost?

The average cost of Invisalign can actually be comparable to the regular braces cost in certain cases.  Depending on factors such as treatment needs and length, find out if Invisalign is the right choice for you.  It offers unique advantages such as being removable, which allows you to still enjoy your favorite foods and also makes maintenance much easier.  These clear aligners are also virtually invisible, ideal for young teens and adult professionals alike, as they wont interfere with your social or personal life.

How Do I Know If My Braces Are Working?

Dr. Heidi Harman and the staff at H2O Orthodontics provide their patients with the best orthodontic care near River Market, KC. They work hard to ensure that every patient is provided with the appropriate, gentle, and affordable care they need and expect to solve any orthodontic problem.

Braces are made with three basic parts: a bracket, a bonding mechanism or band, and an archwire. These all work to help with improving the development of your teeth, bite and jaw. If you’re experiencing a difference in the function of your braces, such as a loose brace or bracket, your braces may be broken and thus aren’t delivering the effective treatment your teeth need. The team at H2O Orthodontics near River Market, KC are experts in informing and guiding patients on how to keep their braces in good working order and on track to deliver the best treatment outcome possible.

What can cause harm to my braces?

  • Hard candies

  • Ice cubes

  • Gum, gummies, and other hard or sticky foods

  • Injury to the face

There are several factors that can ultimately cause damage to your braces and prevent them from working as designed. The team at H2O Orthodontics know that sticky substances such as gum or hard foods can cause damage to the brackets and/or the wires of your braces. When adjusting to a newly fitted set of braces, it’s important to stay proactive and keep them safe, for instance, by eating softer foods at least initially. Stay aware of what foods you’re eating and what activities you are participating in. Not only will this keep your braces safe, but it will ensure your continued oral health, as well.

Some signs that your braces need to be fixed.

  • Loose or missing bracket

  • Broken or loose wire

  • Severe discomfort or pain in your teeth, mouth, and/or jaw

Ways to avoid discomfort while wearing braces.

  • Create a diet of soft food diet (e.g., pasta, soups, mashed potatoes, yogurt, and other soft stuff).

  • Rinse with warm salt water 2-to-3 times a day.

  • Consult with your doctor and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as needed.

It’s normal to feel discomfort in and around your mouth while wearing braces, especially if they’ve been newly fitted. This pain doesn’t necessarily mean your braces are broken or ill-fitting. However, Dr. Harman says that if you continue to experience pain in your teeth, mouth or jaw, call your orthodontist immediately.

Don’t wait.
