Financial and Insurance

It is our mission to provide you with affordable, high quality treatment that fits your budget. Our experienced staff will take great care to help organize a plan.

Each orthodontic problem is unique. Fees will vary depending on the severity and complexity of the problem. An estimate will be given at your initial visit, and a specific fee will be determined after diagnostic records have been collected and analyzed. Fees will be reduced for families with more than one patient. If you pay in full at the beginning of treatment, you will receive a discounted rate. If non-insured you may be eligible for a reduced fee. Dr. Harman offers easy payment plans, including interest-free monthly installments. We accept VISA, MasterCard and Discover, debit cards, bank drafts, cafeteria plans and flexible/medical spending accounts (FSA/HSA).

How does orthodontic insurance work?

There are many different agreements between insurance carriers and their subscribers, and each contract provides a different benefit. However, orthodontic insurance generally differs from regular dental insurance in that each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic services. They also usually have a co-pay (i.e. with a 50% co-pay, in order to achieve a $1.00 payment by the insurance company toward the treatment fee, $2.00 must be billed to the orthodontist). This benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic fee (diagnostic records, initial fee, monthly payments, etc.) until the benefit maximum has been reached. Charges for lost or broken appliances may not be covered by insurance.

How does this office assist you with insurance?

To help us help you, please complete the insurance questions on our first visit health forms, and if available, bring your insurance card with you. Michelle or Nika, our treatment coordinator team, will help you determine your insurance benefits and provide you with the necessary forms for reimbursement. We will submit both predetermination and initial insurance claims pertaining to charges for care rendered in our office. If, during the course of treatment, your benefits change, the financially responsibility party becomes accountable for the charges. The insured should remain in contact with their insurance company and keep us informed, as we can offer useful information if changes occur.
